Soodabeh
Sudabeh Movie (فیلم سودابه) is a 2025 Iranian psychological crime-drama directed and written by veteran filmmaker Mohammad Ali Sajjadi. Originally titled “Bazicheh” (Toy), the movie premiered in cinemas on August 21, 2024, and later became available for streaming in July 2025 . The plot revolves around Mehrdad, portrayed by Arman Darvish, who marries his colleague’s sister, Sudabeh (Sanaz Saeidi), and brings her to his decrepit family home. What begins as a domestic arrangement soon evolves into a series of unsettling and mysterious occurrences, testing their mental stability and marital bond.
Featuring an ensemble cast—including Anahita Dargahi, Reza Babak, Roya Teymourian, Reza Molaee, and a cameo by Setareh Eskandari—the film takes Sajjadi back to the genre that marked his early success: psycho-thrillers with a criminal twist. Cinematography by Rouzbeh Raiga and a haunting score from Karen Homayounfar create an environment brimming with tension and unease. Showcased at the Tashkent Film Festival and previously recognized at American horror-themed events, Sudabeh blends melodrama and suspense in a richly layered narrative. With its psychological depth, strong performances, and atmospheric direction, the film emerges as a notable addition to contemporary Iranian cinema.
