Fasle Mahie Sefid Movie (فصل ماهی سفید) is a 2025 Iranian drama directed by Ghorban Najafi, marking his directorial debut. The film is a modern adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard,” reimagined within the context of northern Iran. It follows the story of Bahram Bozorgnia (Mohammad Reza Forutan) and his sister Nahid (Ladan Mostofi), heirs to a family estate and rice paddies that have been in their family for generations. As financial hardships mount, the siblings face the impending loss of their ancestral land, symbolizing the erosion of tradition and familial bonds. The narrative delves into themes of generational conflict, economic struggle, and the tension between preserving heritage and embracing change. With a compelling cast that includes Milad Keymaram and Bijan Banafshekhah, and a haunting score by Karen Homayounfar, “White Fish Season” offers a poignant reflection on the complexities of modern Iranian society.
